1. It's so annoying when students are pulled out during regular class time. The remaining students always imagine that the ones leaving are headed to Disneyland or something and get distracted and jealous.
2. Halfway through the alef bais I start practicing kamatz with the students, and then 3/4 of the way through I introduce patach. This is so it won't be completely new to them when we start seriously learning nekudos after they completely master the letters. I posted kriah practice sheets if you want to see it in detail.
